Bambusa odashimae

Odashimae Bamboo

35' tall, 2.5" dia culms, good to 25° Fahrenheit

Odashimae bamboo has Incorrectly been identified as Bambusa "Edulis" in the USA. Not so! It is a native to Taiwan with large green leaves, often grown there for its edible shoots. It is similar in form to Oldhamii Bamboo, except the culms arch out at the base, then turn upward. As new culms develop, the initial culm sheaths turn bright yellow prior to dropping, making way for the first branching. Little trimming is needed to keep the lower part of the clump free of branches and leaves. Odashimae is a beautiful specimen bamboo where room allows.
